Writing Journal November 16-21

Monday November 16 Definitely in a better headspace today. No crying! Getting back to our weekly schedule helped. I also saw friends in social distanced outdoor meetups. We are lucky the weather has stayed so good for so long. I have to admit seeing 60 degrees projected for this weekend helped my mood immensely. Today I didn’t edit in order. I did line edits on the last scene of the last chapter. Then my stretch goal for the day was to ask another writer I’m acquainted with but had never read my work to read the book. They offered to …

Writing Journal November 9-14

Monday November 9 Not much progress this morning. Still on fleshing out and clarifying description duty as I work through the chapter. I did get some important errands accomplished today. Both kids have much needed new shoes that actually fit. I ordered a gobbler sandwich online, picked it up and then drove to a nearby park to eat lunch with a friend. I shall consider it my finishing my book celebration.  Tuesday November 10 Between an editing session last night after the kids went to bed  and another session this morning when they were on zoom I finished line edits …

Writing Journal Nov 2-Nov 7

Monday, November 2 I don’t write on Sundays but we voted yesterday! I am so glad I don’t have to worry about that anymore. What a relief! Now we just have to sit back and see what happens this week. I am super excited to write today. I went to bed early last night so the morning would come earlier so I could write.  Today I need to rewrite chapter 27. The whole thing needs to be trashed so we are starting from scratch. In my head, I’m shooting for min 2500 words. Maximum  4000. 3 scenes. I can write …

It is also an awesome collection of Mormon flash fiction and poetry from so many talented and experienced writers in the field. It it a great collection to have on hand for a quick bit of entertainment and inspiration. …

Writing Journal Oct 26-Oct 31

Monday October 26.  Woke up excited to write. Anxious because they are turning our water off from 9-3. We’ll see how much the little distractions that come along with that does for our progress today. We’re over 50,000 words into this edit. Now that we’re on the last third of the novel we’ve got serious revisions up for us. So we can land the ending. Starting with chapter 23. 23 you shall not defeat me.  Tuesday October 27 Got the first half of Chapter 23 revised yesterday.  Pleased with results. I’m having trouble writing the transition to the next scene. …

A Proper Charade by Esther Hatch

Sometimes I feel like there are two types of Regencies. There are the historical Regencies that not only pay careful attention to the technicalities to British class rules but also historical attitudes and expectations. Then there are Regencies that are what high fantasy is to the medieval era. Basically, there is a castle and there is a king but everything else goes. Some Regencies have started to take on that sort of feel. Add a duke and a fancy English setting but everything else goes regardless of the social and historical realities of the time period.  There are major aspects …
